Home PageWelcome!
As always, we expect this site to grow with time. But how it grows, and in what directions, depends on input, suggestions, and (most importantly!) information from people in the area.
More on the Toilets in Sea Mills Square(March 2008) For the last few weeks, discussions have been ongoing with the current owners of the Sea Mills Toilet Block with a view to negotiating possible acquisition of the building for use as a community café / drop in and run on a not-for-profit basis. Discussions are progressing well, and it is hoped that an agreement might be put in place during April. Subject to gaining planning permission, it is intended that the Block would be transformed into an asset for the community, with the day to day operation led on a joint basis by the churches in Sea Mills. Over the coming weeks there will be further consultation with key representatives of the Sea Mills community so as to ensure that the needs and aspiration of the community are met.
Toilets in Sea Mills Square(15 November 2005) We have just heard that the toilets on Sea Mills Square are to go. The Council confirmed their decision on the matter recently, after the previous decision to close them was 'called in' for re-examination. We do not know when they will be closed, and we do not know for certain that they will be demolished. The Community Project and the Local Councillors tried to keep the toilets open, as many local people use them. However, if they are to close, the next best option is for the toilet block to be demolished and the area grassed over. We do not want the toilet block to remain, and be subject to vandalism and grafitti.
Online FacilitiesThe Sea Mills & Coombe Dingle Community Project has teamed up with Yahoo! to create a new online service for our community using Yahoo! Groups. If you visit the site (http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/smacdcf), you can see the new facilities, and if you join the group you will receive copies of any email messages sent to the group and be able to add events to the calendar, post messages, and even share photos of local events! The group has been set up to enable members of the Community Forum to communicate with each other more easily, which explains the name of the group. The Forum is one of the more important of the Community Project's activities.

Sea Mills SquareThe money we had been told was available to make improvements to the square is not available after all. But we want to maintain the interest generated, and keep up the discussion of how to improve the square for local people.
