Practice ManagerAnnette Bartlett is responsible for the day to day administration in the Practice and liases with all members of staff.
Practice NursesSister Rosemary Hill, Sister Mary Michaels and Sister Margaret Garland may be seen by appointment for:
ReceptionistsOur 5 receptionists are the front line of our service and will do all they can to help you. They are responsible for making appointments, taking requests for visits, repeat prescriptions, getting notes ready for surgeries, requests for hospital transport, sorting mail and answering general enquiries etc. They have to follow the instructions of the doctors and at the same time satisfy the patient needs, occasionally under difficult circumstances, all of which makes it a very demanding and exacting job.
GP RegistrarThe GP registrar is a qualified doctor who is training to become a GP and will be working at the practice for up to 1 year.
ServicesAppointmentsYou may make an appointment with any of the doctors in the practice, but we would advise you see one doctor consistently, where possible. Appointments are 10 minutes long - please ensure just one patient and one problem per appointment. If you need longer you may book a double appointment. If your need to see the doctor is urgent, every attempt will be made to accommodate you on the same day, at the end of surgery, although this may not be with your usual doctor and may require a longer wait. Many appointments are wasted because patients do not ring at all, or call too late for their place to be offered to someone else. Please help us by letting us know as soon as possible if you cannot attend.
Home VisitsWe should remind patients that a home visit should only be requested for those too ill or infirm to travel. Where transport is a problem, please try and get a neighbour or friend to bring you down to the surgery. The receptionist may ask about the illness to help the doctors plan their rounds. Please call before 10.00am. Visits are made after morning surgery and times cannot be guaranteed.
Out of Hours ArrangementsRecently the system for dealing with calls overnight and at weekends has changed. When the surgery is closed your call will go directly to the NHS Direct call handling centre. A call handler will assess your call may give advice on how to manage the problem yourself at home, or recommend that you attend the Primary Care Centre at Southmead Hospital. In some circumstances it may be necessary for a doctor to visit you at home or for you to attend the Accident end Emergency Department. The emergency telephone number is the same as the daytime number - (0117) 968 1182.
Repeat PrescriptionsPlease use your counterfoil to order a repeat prescription. If a SAE is provided, your prescription will be posted back to you. Requests take 48 hours to process. Please note that no requests are taken over the telephone.
Test Results and QueriesFor test results and non-urgent appointments, please try and call in the afternoon when the lines are less busy. If you need to speak to the doctor urgently, please call after morning surgery. The doctors are usually available between 11.30am - 12.00 noon. Alternatively messages can be left and the doctor will call you back when he or she is able.
Health Visitors - Tel: 982 8181Our health visitors Mrs. Sue Rees and Ms Louise ??? are based at Shirehampton Health Centre. They are qualified nurses who monitor child development, give advice on feeding/behaviour problems/immunisations etc and run a weekly child health clinic at the surgery.

Disabled AccessOur premises have suitable access for disabled people via the main entrance. There is also a disabled toilet.
Change of Address / Telephone NumberIf you are moving, even if it is nearby please notify us as soon as possible. It enables us to update our records so that we can locate you in an emergency. It is equally important to notify us of any change of telephone number. Please note that in order to provide quality 24 hour care for all our patients, existing patients who move outside our practice area may be asked to register with another doctor.
Complaints / Comments / SuggestionsWe do our best to work to high standards of care, however occasionally things may go wrong and misunderstandings may arise. If this happens we would like to be able to find out what the problem is and if possible solve it and improve the way we work in the future. If you do find cause for complaint we would ask that you put it in writing to the Practice Manager so that we may deal with it appropriately. There is also a suggestions box on the reception desk for any of your suggestions or comments.
